A road map for Electronic Paper QR-LPD
Flexible Electronic Paper
In the future, by creating a feeling that is as close as possible to paper, we are aiming to replace paper with Electronic Paper. The present Electronic Paper uses glass substrates, but by replacing them with plastic substrates, while maintaining visibility, memory, and energy-saving characteristics, it can be made flexible. By changing the material from glass to plastic, the following merits can be obtained.
- 1. Safety
- There is no need to worry about "cracking" or "breaking."
- 2. Weight Reduction
- In comparison with the same size glass panel, the weight reduction ratio will be 1/10. (In-house comparison)
- 3. Thinness
- In comparison with the same size glass panel, the thinness ratio will be 1/5. (In-house comparison)

As mentioned above, since improvements in safety, weight reduction, and thinness will be possible, portability will also be improved, and we believe that the day will come when Electronic Paper will be handled in the same way as paper.
Furthermore, by making it flexible, Electronic Paper excels in portability, and it is anticipated that it will become the perfect new device for the mobile society of the future. In addition, installation on curved surfaces which used to be impossible, has become possible, so the potential uses of the displays will be broadened.
Characteristics of Flexible Electronic Paper
Thickness : Comparison with glass 1/5 (In-house ratio)
Weight : Comparison with glass 1/10 (In-house ratio)
High Durability : For safety
Manufacturing Process of Flexible Electronic Paper
We have developed a "Roll to Roll" process that excels in productivity.
Since it is not necessary to form the TFT (Thin Film Transistor)
required for most displays, it is an ideal process.
